The Job Application Process

Think about the following questions. Take notes in the chart below, based on your experience in health care.

  1. In your country, what kind of paperwork did you need to apply for a job? What documents do you need to apply for a job in the U.S.? Are these documents the same in your country and the U.S., or are they different?
  2. How are job applications, résumés (called curriculum vitae in some countries), and cover letters the same? How are they different?
  3. What do managers look for on job applications? What do you think are common mistakes people make when they fill out job applications?
