Preparing Job Search Documents

Complete at least one of the following tasks.

  1. Job Application:  Go to a health care organization and get an application or print an online application. Then fill out the application.

Remember:

    • Print neatly using a blue or black pen.
    • Be complete. Answer all of the questions.
  1. Cover Letter:  Find a want ad in the newspaper or a job announcement on the Internet. Write a cover letter for this job.

Notes on the information you should include in your cover letter:

  • Paragraph 1: State your job objective and why you are interested in this job. Tell how you found out about the job. If you were referred by someone, mention this person’s name
  • Paragraph 2: Describe your qualifications for the job, matching your skills and qualities with the requirements in the job announcement. Use an example to show how you are uniquely qualified for the job. Show how you can help the company rather than what the company can do for you.
  • Paragraph 3: State that you would like an interview. Be proactive and state when you will contact the employer.
  1. Résumé: Using your notes in this unit, write a draft of your résumé below.
