Consider socializing customs in your country and compare them with customs in the U.S., particularly regarding communication among co-workers. Read the announcement below that was posted on a bulletin board in a staff lounge at work. Then answer the questions that follow.

- What is the purpose of the announcement? How would you tell another co-worker about it?
- In your country, do you see announcements like this posted at work? Is it common for companies to plan social events for employees?
- How often do colleagues socialize with one another in your country?
- What groups usually get together? (large or small groups, people at the same level or in the same department, etc.)
- Where do colleagues usually meet? (at work, at someone’s home, at a restaurant, etc.)
- What do colleagues do when they get together? (eat, have coffee, do sports, watch movies, etc.)
- If you have been working in the U.S., how do socializing customs compare with the customs in your country? What is similar? What is different? What about among co-workers?
