Socializing on and off the Job

Consider socializing customs in your country and compare them with customs in the U.S., particularly regarding communication among co-workers. Read the announcement below that was posted on a bulletin board in a staff lounge at work. Then answer the questions that follow.

  3. How often do colleagues socialize with one another in your country?

  4. What groups usually get together? (large or small groups, people at the same level or in the same department, etc.)

  5. Where do colleagues usually meet? (at work, at someone’s home, at a restaurant, etc.)

  6. What do colleagues do when they get together? (eat, have coffee, do sports, watch movies, etc.)

  7. If you have been working in the U.S., how do socializing customs compare with the customs in your country? What is similar? What is different? What about among co-workers?
